Hello and welcome to Calf Notes Academy. My name is Dr. Jim Quigley, author of Calf Notes.com and Managing Director at Calf Notes Consulting. The entire Calf Notes Consulting team is very excited to bring you this new educational initiative called Calf Notes Academy
Calf Notes Academy will be the central hub for a series of new educational programs related to calf nutrition and management. Programs within the Academy include Calf Notes Basics, Calf 101, What’s Happening and Calf Tech Seminars.
Calf Notes Basics is a series of short, animated videos that provide an introduction to some of the terminology and concepts related to calf management. The videos are short, fun, and educational. Calf Notes Basics will present be presented via Instagram, but also a permanent repository will be available here at Calf Notes Academy.
Calf 101 is an introduction to calf nutrition and management. It’s a series of seven videos that cover 7 separate topics related to calf management. Each is about 1 to 1.5 hours in length and cover the topics in some detail. These topics include colostrum, feeding milk, milk replacers, rumen development, calf starters, general management and heifer growth. Once completed, you’ll have a great understanding of the basics of calf nutrition and management. This course, like an introductory college course, is a great survey of the interpolant topics related to calf management.
What’s Happening is a video series that explores the story behind the media. Each episode discusses a photo or video that I’ve taken some time during my career and has an important teaching concept. We’ll discuss the photo and the idea behind the photo. And I’ll provide you with some follow up links For more information if you’re interested in a deeper dive into the topic. Each of these videos is 3 to 5 minutes in length and will be presented in an interesting and entertaining way.
And finally, tech seminars are a series of videos that range from about 45 minutes to an hour. These highly technical. Episodes take a deep dive into a topic related to some aspect of calf nutrition or management. These are not for the faint hearted, and we will cover topics in great depth and scientific detail. These seminars are perfect for calf specialists, veterinarians and nutritionists who are looking for a deep dive into a calf nutrition topic.
